Azerbaijani delegation visits National Library of Qatar [PHOTO]

The Azerbaijani delegation visited the National Library of Qatar.
Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan Karim Tahirov, head of the department of the book industry of the Ministry of Culture, Ph.D. in history Akif Marifli, director of the publishing house “Tahsil” Tural Akhundov, translator into Arabic, Ph.D. in philology Ahmad Sami and the director of the publishing house “Chinar Yayimlari” visited the reading rooms, the book collection of the library.
They also visited the museum, where unique books and manuscripts are exhibited.
The 1529 manuscript of the poem “Leyli and Majnun” by the brilliant Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, kept in the library museum, as well as other book collections aroused great interest among visitors.
Meanwhile, the two libraries will exchange electronic copies of ancient books and manuscripts as part of the four-year agreement.
Recall that Azerbaijan participates in the Doha International Book Fair 2022.
The Ministry of Culture and the National Library of Azerbaijan participated in the book fair known as one of the oldest and largest in this region.
The national stand presented the book “Khamsa” published in 2021 within the framework of the Nizami Ganjavi Year in Azerbaijan, the book of Professor Yevgeny Bertels “The great Azerbaijani poet Nizami” in English and Arabic, books published by the National Arabic Translation Center, as well as publications dedicated to the country’s culture and history.
The first launch of the exhibition took place in 1972 under the direction of Dar Al Kutub Al Qatariya. It would be held every two years, but since 2002 it has become an annual activity.
More than 20 publishing houses participated in the first exhibition and reached 335 publishing houses representing 31 countries.
The book fair has gained international fame after successfully attracting the largest and most important publishing houses in the world.
