Celebrate National Library Pay-Per-View Month with CDL
September is Library Card Signup Month, when libraries nationwide join the American Library Association in reminding parents, caregivers, and students that signing up for a library card is the first step. on the path to academic success and lifelong learning. Libraries play a crucial role in the education and development of children, offering a variety of programs to stimulate creativity and stimulate interest in reading and learning. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and offers people of all ages the opportunity to pursue their dreams, explore new passions and interests and to find their voice.
Information Services Manager, Shannon Powers shares, “Public libraries are about sharing the voices of a diverse and inclusive community. The Chelsea District Library strives to maintain evolving collections of materials and creative programs to tell stories from all walks of life. At CDL, customers of all ages can find a variety of resources and activities, including resume building and job search tools, college and financial aid, story hours for all ages, and a wide variety of programs and book clubs. Can’t come to the library? We can put documents in overnight lockers in the lobby for pick up and customers can access dozens of online databases and a huge collection of e-books, audiobooks, movies, music, etc. .
This year, Idina Menzel (Frozen, Nasty) and her sister, author and educator Cara Mentzel, will serve as Honorary Patrons of Library Card Signup Month. Idina and Cara are thrilled to remind everyone that one of the best places to find your voice is in the library. During Library Card Signup Month, they want us to explore everything the library has to offer, like new children’s books, access to technology, and educational programs.
