Emirates News Agency – Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Humanities, National Library and Archives sign MoU for cultural cooperation
ABU DHABI, 27th July, 2022 (WAM) — The Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Humanities and the National Library and Archives have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cultural cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise and experiences between the two parties.
The terms of the agreement define the framework and mechanisms for cooperation and the role of each party in their implementation on the ground.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Khaled Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Human Sciences, and Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director General of the National Library and Archives.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties have undertaken to prepare studies and research in areas of common interest, to publish articles and research in their journals and publications, to set up cultural activities and scientific and community service projects, as well as to launch awareness and media initiatives that will lead to strengthening national identity and instilling the habit of reading in community members.
In addition, the MoU stipulates that employees of both parties will carry out practical exercises to improve coordination and exchange educational, electronic or other resources and databases, including publications, books, journals and research to create a unified index of scientific and academic references. to allow easy access for the benefit of both parties.
In addition, the MoU paves the way for cooperation in the field of logistics and human and technical resources, including the sharing of resources and facilities such as libraries, technical centers and rooms to put implementing programs, activities and events, covering education, training as well as other areas of cooperation that will be jointly agreed upon and mutually beneficial to both parties.
Al Dhaheri added: “It is a privilege for us at the university to partner with the National Library and Archives, which is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the United Arab Emirates and the largest documentary center in the Gulf region”.
Abdullah Majid Al Ali affirmed that the MoU with Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Human Sciences establishes a new phase of cultural cooperation between the two parties and is a progressive step towards strengthening partnerships between the two parties.
Al Ali noted that the two sides have already collaborated in the fields of publishing book reviews as well as introducing magazines and journals from prestigious international publishing houses. “This agreement will build on this existing relationship and increase our efforts to develop new cultural and academic initiatives that will not only benefit both parties, but also the UAE.”
