La Crosse Public Library opens class to revive sewing skills

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The La Crosse Public Library is trying to rekindle interest in the ancient skill of sewing.

The library started a six-week sewing course on Thursday for people looking for a new hobby.

“We know that, within the community, sewing is something that has been mentioned to us to offer different types of programming,” said programming librarian Kathy Kabat. “So that allows us to meet one of the needs of the community.”

The course, which will take place from Thursday to August 25, teaches the basics of sewing. He’ll figure out how to make a quick table runner and a drawstring bag among other projects.

The library provides sewing machines to each participant.
