National Library Card Enrollment Month for Pittsfield Library

The Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s public library, is pleased to announce that it has issued and renewed over 500 adult and children’s library cards in September, which was National Library Card enrollment month.

National Library Card Sign-up Month is an initiative of the American Library Association. Marley Dias, author, executive producer and founder of # 1000BlackGirlBooks, was the Honorary Chair of National Library Card Enrollment Month 2021.

“A library card offers an opportunity for discovery and access to a rich and diverse world. It allows you to make a change and experience new stories, ”says Dias.

The initiative was co-sponsored by more than a dozen downtown Pittsfield businesses that offered discounts to patrons who presented their library cards at participating locations. The Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum supported the Athenaeum celebration by issuing a Kindle Fire HD 10 to customers who have registered or renewed their library card.

The Athenaeum is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Friday; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, please call 413-499-9480, ext. 202 during library hours, email [email protected] or visit www.pittsfieldlibrary.org
