National Library Conference in Goa today

A one-day national conference on “Transforming Higher Education Libraries in the Digital Environment” will be held in Goa on Friday. The conference will discuss the latest advances in the field of librarianship.

The conference was organized by Library and Information Centre, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, Bardez, Goa, in collaboration with Goa College Librarians Association (GCLA) and Karnataka State College Librarians Association (KSCLA).

The conference aims to provide an opportunity to discuss key concepts in library management. “Experts in the field and senior librarians from various organizations will serve as resource persons for the conference designed to meet the needs of library and information science professionals, researchers and students,” said the director of the Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Center DB Arolkar. in one release.

“In this modern digital age of information explosion, library and information professionals face many challenges, redefining their role and also rethinking library and information services, while adopting new technologies is crucial,” he said.

The organizing secretary of the conference, Jayaprakash Hugar, said the event provided librarians with an opportunity to share best practices, issues, technology and trends in SIBs through articles and adopt the best services of library in their respective higher education libraries.

The conference has Bibliometrics/Scientometrics/Webometrics/ Citation Analysis; Digital content creation, management, digital library services, archives/preservation/digital repositories; Libraries of the Future, Emerging Trends and Technologies in Library and Information Science; MOOC and LIS education; Open access initiatives and movement; Scholarly communications, predatory and cloned journals, among others, as subtopics.
