A memorial exhibition for Queen Elizabeth II has opened at the Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library in Wellington following her death today.

This tribute to Queen Elizabeth II is based on the pictorial archives held by the Alexander Turnbull Library, Archives New Zealand and Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision. These collections are the richest in illustrations from the visit during this “royal summer” of 1953-1954, so images from this tour are predominant in this exhibition of 26 images.

The public is invited to view the exhibition, which is free, on the ground floor during the opening hours of the National Library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The exhibition, in te reo Maori and English, can also be viewed online at: Queen Elizabeth II – Vale Regina | National Library of New Zealand (natlib.govt.nz)

A book of condolences is in the main foyer of the National Library for visitors to pay their respects.
