Doha: The Qatar National Library (QNL) has successfully concluded the third edition of the “Young Adult Summer Camp”, which included exciting activities aimed at empowering young people to develop their skills and creativity.

In total, seven sessions took place from July 23 to August 11 to offer young people the opportunity to explore their passion. The range of activities attracted those interested in research and learning and touched on science experiments, robotics, engineering, career counseling and visual design.

The “summer camp for young adults” began with a demonstration session of scientific experiments, which were very popular with the participants. The session was an opportunity to learn about the subject of chemistry through interactive techniques. The sessions also included a journal club on career guidance, in collaboration with the Qatar Career Development Centre. Students discussed popular books that can support their future career planning.

Additionally, there were sessions where visitors learned how to use the Canva online platform for graphic design, how to build robots, technological aspects of engineering, as well as show their creativity through the arts and craftsmanship.

One of the workshops was to discuss the book Be Red Tea, which aims to help young people who want to make changes in their lives.

Commenting on the third edition of the Young Adult Summer Camp, Ahmed Yousef Almalki, Young Adult Manager, said: “The third Young Adult Summer Camp was a huge success this summer and offered a variety of educational activities for young people such as arts and crafts, design, scientific exploration and robotics, in line with the Library’s vision of developing the skills and talents of young people to exploit existing resources at their disposal.

“The Children’s and Young Adults’ Library will continue to offer innovative events that keep pace with the new and provide the right environment outside of the classroom for children and young people to discover, improve and develop their interests, talents and skills,” he added. .

The young adult summer camp is one of the many activities organized by the Library for young people. It is part of the Library’s vision of fostering learning and discovery, in which young adults can take advantage of the Library’s resources. The Library will continue to host a variety of fun and engaging events throughout August 2022, such as the “Little Storytellers Workshop” and “Chess Club,” for a fun summer break.

As the library will host several in-person events, members of the public are reminded to adhere to the latest COVID-19 guidelines established by the Department of Public Health to ensure the well-being and safety of the community.
