The National Library of Qatar inaugurates the “Read to Lead” program

Doha: The National Library of Qatar hosted the first session of the Read to Lead program, an initiative that focuses on leadership and how self-help books can empower individuals and employees to grow their efficiency and performance to improve their productivity.

Former Prime Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani was the guest of honor at the event. He shared his knowledge and talked about his previous experiences as one of Qatar’s most prominent leaders. The session also focused on the most important leadership principles covered in the book The Leader Who Didnt Have a Position, by Robin Sharma, one of the leading publications on the subject.

The event was attended by HE the Minister of State and Chairman of the National Library of Qatar, Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who delivered the keynote address, as well as leaders from 15 government institutions different. Their presence was a sign of the government’s commitment to successful leadership and the refinement of skills that will impact society and actively contribute to the achievement of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

At the end of the session, the participants expressed their opinions and impressions on the themes and ideas of the book, and the most important lessons they learned after hearing about the experiences of HE the former Prime Minister. Copies of the book were also distributed to participants.

His Excellency said: “I extend my sincere thanks to the management of the National Library of Qatar and the organizers of the ‘Read to Lead’ program, led by Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, President of the National Library of Qatar. I had the pleasure of interacting and speaking with promising young leaders in whom I saw the spirit of leadership and was moved by their determination to hone their leadership abilities for use in their careers. wish them success and progress in their work, as they are the leaders of tomorrow and the builders of our nation.”

The “Read to Lead” program is part of “Qatar Reads”, an initiative of the National Library of Qatar, but which was originally launched by the former Community Development Department of the Qatar Foundation in 2019 to encourage residents of Qatar to read every day.

For his part, Dr. Al Kuwari said, “In our country, we are keen to educate our youth on the factors of successful leadership, and the starting point is knowledge, and knowledge begins with reading, with which leadership is achieved.

He added: “The Qatar Reads initiative, through its ‘Read to Lead’ programme, has gotten off to a good start by selecting a distinguished guest and leader from among Qatar’s great leaders, HE the former Prime Minister, who has discussed leadership concepts with young leaders and shared his rich and practical experience with clear examples and real stories, which had a great impact on the participants.

The “Qatar Reads” initiative aims to make reading an essential part of the daily activities of communities in Qatar, and an effective tool for disseminating knowledge, instilling values, encouraging analytical thinking and promoting social development. The project offers a variety of ways in which families, young people and various segments of society can interact with the world of reading.

Among these is the “Read to Lead” program, which takes the form of educational sessions and discussions around a specific book. This program targets groups such as university students, young professionals and employees, using specific books to put personal development and ambition in the hands of lifelong learners, and to help them use reading as a means of professional and personal development.
